SUMMARY OF POSITION

Position’s primary goal is to help the candidate learn the process of testing and failure analysis of Aerospace Ignition Systems using various electrical measurement instruments, such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, ampere meters, AC & DC power supplies, function generators and various test loads. The Exciter Technician Co-op will also utilize various environmental test equipment, such as high temperature ovens, thermal cycle chambers and vibration test equipment, to perform various operational test on Ignition Systems.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/COMPETENCIES

  • Handle all aspects of in process and final acceptance testing of product to required Champion, and customer standards, using electrical test equipment
  • Perform failure analysis on any failed units and work with engineering to identify root cause and suggest corrective actions
  • Perform maintenance on test equipment and perform limited trouble shooting/repair of environmental test equipment
  • Accurately document all aspects of testing and failure analysis as required by Champion standard operating instructions
  • Program and operate environmental test equipment to meet test plan requirements
  • Will be responsible assembling and maintaining test equipment used in the manufacture of Turbine Ignition System products
  • Assist Engineering in the design of new electrical test equipment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited program in the Technical field of study (i.e. Industrial Electronics, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or Engineering Technology) with a concentration in Electronics
  • 2+ years of experience with the assembly and test of mechanical and electrical assemblies preferred
  • Ability to competently use test equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Power Supplies and Function Generators)
  • Ability to develop basic PLC programs and setup/program temperature controllers
  • Demonstrated ability to solder surface mount components at the PCB level
  • Experience with electronic components at the circuit board level (i.e. timers, comparators, resistors, diodes, capacitors and logic chips)
  • Ability to competently use schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical/electronic issues
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Solder certification to J standard and/or IPC610 training a plus
